P.S. I love you

2 Jul

First of a many movies on my bucket list. Today I saw “P.S. I love you” with my bf. I actually should have thought this through; it was night time and I should have picked a different movie, less depressing. As you can probably guess, I am posting this here tonight at 2AM in the morning because I can not sleep…due to post-depressing-movie-syndrome. #fml

So, here is the movie that we watched…

(trailer link): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GNxdc-wlw4

(Movie link): http://www.gsmovies.com/movie.php?id=4432

I can’t even begin to explain the agony it has brought upon me. Read the synopsis on wikipedia if you don’t wish to see it, but it was so touching. Basically, long story short, “A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life.” – (IMBD)

Now, during the movie when I was with my boo, I didn’t cry so much…I don’t know I guess the actuality of it all didn’t hit me until a little after, when I got home.

I guess the thought of it all. I think it him me pretty hard, because the main protagonist and her husband reminded me a lot of my boyfriend and I. I mean, just the arguments they have, the kind of things she’s worried about in the beginning, and just in general their experiences, somehow I can really connect with them, and all that happens in the movie just really touches me where I feel it the most… if that makes sense.

I was talking to my friend about it, and she reassured me saying that my bf won’t die or anything and not to worry… but I guess it’s not even just that. Or… maybe it is? I don’t know. Just the thought of it all… really gets me depressed, even though the movie technically has a happy ending, it’s not like he comes back to life, right?

It also gets you to think… life is really unfair. And you start getting kind of paranoid at all the things that could possibly go wrong in your life. I just felt super in despair after the movie ended; almost as if… as if I just didn’t know about anything anymore.

“We’re so arrogant, aren’t we? So afraid of age, we do everything we can to prevent it. We don’t realize what a privilege it is to grow old with someone. Someone who doesn’t drive you to commit murder or doesn’t humiliate you beyond repair.”

The above is a quotation from the movie that a character says upon spying an old couple together happily. I guess, you could say I’m like that too. I often envy old couples in love, because it…gives me hope in a sense. Gives me something to hang on to, a beacon of hope if you will. I guess you could say, in this messed up world where people are always giving up on each other, when I see two people who have gotten through the hard times, put up with each other through each others shit and were able to stay together through thick and thin, I feel super warm inside. Almost like jelly.

I think if I ever were diagnosed with a terminal illness, I would do the same. Well, not exactly but the same concept; leaving little tidbits of me. But unlike Gerry, I would be terrified; terrified of being forgotten. I guess in that way I’m very selfish and self-centered, but I could not stand for my loved ones to forget about me and replace me…it would just be too much, the thought of it even.

This has just been a night full of deep thought and heartache. I guess it’s arguable that I think too much, and I need to loosen up a bit, but I truly don’t know what to say or think or feel at this moment in time. I just needed to blog it out, and so here I am.

The movie itself, I really loved. I think it’s such an amazing movie and it touched me to the core; the amount of love this man had for this one woman, the things they endured even after death; the reality the movie touches upon. They did such a good job of portraying such a difficult turmoil and I simply can not recommend this movie enough; it may bring me a night filled with tears, depression and provoke my over thinking, but it is definitely something I would watch again. It’s just one of those super memorable, super thoughtful movies! Something like 8/10 for me in terms of numerical ratings!

I’ll end this blog post off with a quote that really touched me… it’s basically the quote that almost ends the movie/the letters she receives:

“Dear Holly, I don’t have much time. I don’t mean literally, I mean you’re out buying ice cream and you’ll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn’t to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It’s to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful… literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you’re sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you’ll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I’m a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I’m just one chapter in yours. There’ll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don’t be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you. “

Please, don’t tell me that didn’t make you cry. I am actually crying as I type, my tears are dripping into my keyboard, what if my laptop water logs….

Thanks for reading. If you haven’t already, hope you decide to give the movie a watch!…

Takara House Japanese Cuisine 物語

3 Feb

Hellllooo! 🙂 Today’s post is going to be about a Japanese eating place, cuisine, restaurant, all you can eatery, whatever you’d prefer to call such a place of foodery.

The title has 「物語」in it…because it means “Story” LOL Monogatari = story in Japanese 🙂 Basically the story of us going to takara house to eat :3 mrow

So Mr. Leo and I decided to go on a lunch date at this Japanese all you can eat place. Yes, I know. “Kat, you’re on a diet but you’re eating buffet?? HORRIBLE EXAMPLE!” I know!! But le bf has a way of talking me into anything. Literally, anything (._.) nobody else can talk me into a buffet but him. He should feel special.

^Look at him feeling all special and stuff. -.- Lucky guy don’t know how lucky. Only one can make me eat with a smile on my face mrow LOL miracle worker much? :S

^Me, no make-up face and lion hair after exams mrow. Why Mr. Leo can look so pretty even tho just done exams??

Anyhow, we decided to go with the all you can eat $10.99+tax which includes anything on the lunch menu except the sashimi. I thought this was pretty decent for an all you can eat, considering it had everything. To be quite honest, in respects to the sashimi-less issue, just order the sushi version of it and leave the rice! I know, I know not so economical but still!

Here’s a bad picture of the menu. (Mr. Leo and I not used to restaurant blogging okay! what? We’ll get better if I start loosing weight LOL)

^Whatever, zoom if you really want to know everything on the menu! Haha it’s basically a typical Japanese menu with all the different rolls and whatnots. It also includes some “kitchen” items which are like tempura, fried stuff and meats.

^Sneaky sneaky shot I took of man working in background. I could work for the FBI with my creeper skills mrow

^Another little iphone pic of the places interior ^^ Quite nice, although the lanterns words don’t quite match the restaurant (they say Ramen, but no ramen to be found on menu). Still, for a place that offers good, affordable food the atmosphere is nice. Kind of reminds me of a shady samurai sketch yakuza meetup place, actually. Except for the big windows that let everybody peer in, of course.

^Table set up. I must say, their cutlery is not half bad 🙂

^A G, even at a Japanese restaurant mrow. He’s uhm… a boss, allday erryday. LOL

So we ordered, waited patiently for the food to arrive.

One thing about this place, while the female waitress is friendly…I can’t say the same for the male waiter. He was kind of very…unapproachable. Or..just something about him is kind of unfriendly. Perhaps it’s the fact that he NEVER CRACKS A SMILE and GIVES OFF THE AIR THAT HE HATES HIS JOB. Which to me is not acceptable in the consumer-targeted industry.

Eventually, the nice waitress brought out the food 🙂 Here’s some pics of our fatassery!

^Spicy Handroll that we ordered anyhow 🙂 I liked, but kind of tasted like shredded crab meat… 6/10?

^Okay, photos from Mr. Leo’s iphone so much heavier than pics from my itouch… HOW COME? WHAT IS THIS BLASPHEMY ?? Anywho, those are some rolls 🙂 I swear, only places outside of Japan have these amazing delicacies mrow ❤ The one covered in yellow was like 5/10 had only greens. Eel roll was goooddd 8/10. One covered with salmon tasttyyyy! 9/10 wtf

^I believe that is the Sakura roll (7/10) , Unagi sushi (7/10) and Dragon roll (8/10)? 🙂

^Ton Katsu 🙂 Mr. Leo likes apparently. I actually like too, but very fattening la. I give it a 7.5/10 though, because my mommy makes it better mrow. #japaneseproblems

^Some tempura. 7/10, shrimp very thin as my mother pointed out. Not bad though for a buffet.

^Chicken Teriyaki and Eel handroll. I actually liked the chicken teriyaki, not too heavy and gross (8/10). The eel hand roll was actually quite nice, good combination with avocado and all! (8/10).

Doesn’t seem like much from the photos, but we we’re quite full after that. My parents actually came joined us afterwards, so then we had to eat a bit some more, but not much different from what we oredi ordered.

In all, I think it’s quite nice to eat here. The food is definitely not bad, the service is okay and summore it’s affordable.

Pros:

-Affordable
– Tasty
-Rolls are not filled with rice like some other places
-They have nice azuki bean ice cream
-Wide variety to choose from

Cons:

-Service sometimes on the slower side
-The tea is sometimes lukewarm and faded, making it taste quite a la shitty
-Waiter doesn’t smile
-Claimed to open at 11, had to wait until 11:15 or something to enter. While it’s not a big deal it is important for eateries to adhere to their claimed opening times.

Overall: 8/10

I do recommend this place, I believe the variety of foods offered is great for the price, and the food is quite tasty. Perfect for students on a low budget who still want to fill themselves (although I don’t recommend ANYBODY to eat here daily…that’s just unhealthy). The pros outweigh the unimportant cons, as you can probably tell from the list above.  I would definitely want to go again (provided it’s some special occasion and Mr. Leo somehow convinces me) and think it’s quite a nice place.

Address:

50 Bur Oak Ave
Unit 6
Markham, ON L6C 0A2

(905) 887-1988

Happy Sushi everybody! Now GOGOGO! Eat there haha. I swear you won’t regret it! (Unless you’re allergic…then don’t go)

Disclaimer: This was not sponsored in any way, and I am NOT responsible for dissatisfaction of any kind. I am simply writing a quick little post about what I think of the restaurant! 🙂

Haha! Thanks for reading my blog! Please comment and follow! I appreciate every single one! ^^

Bye! See you next time! ^^

Geolica Lady Series: Light Brown Contacts Review

17 Jan

Today I’m going to be writing a little review about a new colour contact lens that I believe, just came out! Yes, I am talking about the GEOLICA Lady Series! 🙂

According to the site, this series

“offers astoundingly vivid colors that accentuates and brightens the eye. These 3-tone lenses are recommended for darker irises and for those desiring a look that stands out”.

These lenses have been approved by Health Canada and are being distributed by GEO Medical Canada. I was asked to do a little review on them, and I’m glad I was able to try them!

For the various colours that are available, visit their site at: http://geolica.ca/geolica.html

For reviewing purposes I was given the GS – A14 (Light Brown) to try out!

^The packaging was very pretty, it came in a pink box. (My sister and I at first both assumed they were pink contacts and got so excited! haha We’ve always wanted to try pink contacts 🙂 ) But anywho, the packaging is very aesthetically pleasing and excitable.

Some details about these lenses:

Diameter: 14.2mm
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Water Content: 42%
Material: Polymacon
Lifespan: About 3 months according to the box, a year according to the pamphlet

Here’s some pictures of me wearing them… 🙂

Taken with my camera for better quality…. (excuse the messy mermaid hair, this was taken after a long day at school 😦 )

These were taken from my itouch, a fresher batch of pictures considering the fact that they were taken in the morning, right after I got ready 🙂 :

^A little close-up! 🙂

^Big eyes in this pic right? 🙂 I love these lenses!

^Mrow!

My personal thoughts on this product:

Let me just say, the comfort level is GREAT! To be completely honest, I thought I would never be able to be a gyaru because I couldn’t conform to the lens trend, due to the discomfort I experience from contact lenses in my eyes. By far, this pair was probably the most comfortable I’ve tried, and I could actually go through an entire day at school without being extremely irritated at the product lingering in my eye. Yes, I needed to use eyedrops about once, but trust me, if I can go with them for a day without complaining, their comfort level is quite high.

Another thing I found as a pro, was that they were really easy to put in. I’m not sure about other people, but I usually have to try a few times before I get the contacts into my eyes. With these ones, they seem to just slip onto my eye the first time which really saves me a lot of trouble and time in the mornings!

They also did a great job of enlarging my small eyes. I think when I wear these lenses, my eyes get quite bigger, if you compare these pictures to pictures of me without contacts/makeup on.

I can’t really say that they were that natural though; but they did have a very nice colour. If one wants something natural, I’m guessing something along the lines of the Freshlook Series is somewhere more to look to. This pair of lenses gave a nice colour, (it wasn’t too heavily pigmented that it didn’t allow light into my eyes) and I really do like them.

Although they may be a little more expensive than other brands of lenses, the comfort level makes it perfectly understandable and I would definitely purchase these in a different colour again! 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Airplane trip to Tokyo!

2 Jul

Hi there 🙂 So as promised I will be blogging about my stay in Japan ^^ Perhaps not daily, but as much as possible ^^ Albeit they will be short posts (most probably). The night before I was up till about 4am, packing and helping everyone else with their last minute needs (my sister needed me to make her a shushu, clear her sd card, my other sister and mom needed me to help pack etc). The day we left, we left the house at 11am and our flight was at 2pm. A nice time, if you ask me. I hate waking up at like….4am just to go on a flight wtf. Also, thank god our flight was a direct flight. We used Air Canada.

Not much interesting things happened on the flight…I watched like 5 movies XD. I saw “Rango”, “Just go with it”, “How to Train your pet Dragon” and some ant movie. Ok, there might have been another one…but I can’t remember it fml my memory fails me wtf. 😦

Here are some pretty shots I took whilest on the airplan 🙂 Some very pretty shots. I absolutely love looking out the window on an airplane (which is one reason why I always sit in the window seat. Another reason is that the window seat offers a good sleeping/leaning place). The view is absolutely spectacular, the clouds look so fluffy and majestic. And the cities just look like little toys. Just…amazing:

And here is a camwhore pic of me at my ugliest hour wtf. Why am I even sharing this with you? I don’t even know. Just shoot me now wtf. (Everyone is ugly after a 13 hour flight ok XD).

Here are some more pictures I took from window, our landing if you will:

Then we landed (finally). 13 hours is damn long! My legs are like cramped by the end of it. I refuse getting up to do those redonculous airplane exersizes because they are stupid and everyone glares at you for doing them wtf. Anyway, the moment we stepped off the airplane we felt like…a waft of hot humidity. Yes folks Japan is like this every damn summer. Hot, and absolutely HUMID. Winter is the time to come actually, its just that summer we can stay much longer so thats why we always come in the summer.

Here is a sign that takes us upstairs to the customs:

Btw. I was so pissed! My mom ditched us for customs << so we had to fill out the forms and everything ourselves and combat those customs people wtf. Ok, not so bad actually but it was super mendokusai. orz

We got our luggage fairly fast and used the Airport Limousine to get to Shinagawa Prince Hotel, and took a taxi to my grandmother’s house. BTW, I actually love the Airport Limousine. Every year when we come we always use it. Thats probably why but the Airport Limousine is almost like a part of me wtf. I get super nostalgic when I get on it. I super recommend this method of getting to other places from the airport. Here it is:

When I got to my grandmothers house, we all had like a super reunion! It was super amazing. I missed my grandma like CRAZY so you can imagine how much hugging went on lol. For the record, I call my grandma

ばあば(Baaba) and my grandfather じいじ・(Jiiji) and my uncle おじちゃん(ojichan). Just a little mamechishiki lol.

Also, when I got there, I was super excited cause the stuff I ordered online was there! I got myself a maid costume (which I will probably blog/rave about when I get home, so like a month later will post pics and such), magazines (Popteen, Egg, Cutie and Seventeen) and 2 bags/purses. I am in love with the purses! So damn cute guys you wouldnt even believe! I was super impressed with one of them and the other I like normally 🙂 I will share them with you in this blog post in detail (on my meriko blog, so if you’re interested its like a mini review) http://merigonxnyanko.blogspot.com/2011/07/vita-felice-bags.html

After I took a bath, I helped my grandma take out the garbage and then we went to the roof. I will take pics of the roof some other time to show you guys, but trust, the roof is like the most amazing place ever wtf. Can see everything!

Thats about all for today. Pretty introductory, sorry it was so long XD.
